A Legacy of Faith & Celebration

Since 2004, Sarkar Ganesh Utsav has been at the heart of Surat's Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Located in City Light, Surat, what began as a humble community celebration has grown into one of Gujarat's most admired and anticipated Ganesh festivals.

Every year, thousands of devotees from across the state visit our pandal to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha, experience our renowned Maha Aartis, witness breathtaking themes, and participate in spiritual and cultural celebrations, including the grand Chappan Bhog.

Over the years, Sarkar Ganesh Utsav has become more than a festival — it has grown into a symbol of faith, unity, service, and innovation, bringing together devotees from all walks of life.

Faith & Nature, Together

At Sarkar Ganesh Utsav, we believe that true devotion to Lord Ganesha goes hand in hand with our responsibility towards nature. Under the leadership of Sagar Rajput and the dedicated efforts of the Sarkar Ganesh Utsav Committee, every celebration is thoughtfully designed to honour both our traditions and the environment.

In 2025, we introduced Gujarat's first 16-foot eco-friendly Ganesh Murti, crafted entirely from approximately 350 kg of tissue paper. Created over the course of a month by a team of 15 skilled artisans from Mumbai, this remarkable installation proved that sustainability and grandeur can coexist.

The initiative received widespread appreciation and was featured by The Times of India along with several other leading national and regional media publications for promoting environmentally responsible celebrations.

A Sustainable Vision

Protecting Our Rivers, Honouring Our Faith

Artificial Pond

Instead of immersing the idol in natural water bodies, we conduct the Visarjan within our premises using a specially designed artificial pond.

Zero Pollution

Water is gently circulated to dissolve the tissue-paper murti, eliminating pollution caused by Plaster of Paris idols and protecting the Tapi River.

Nutrient-Rich Compost

The dissolved tissue paper is collected and converted into nutrient-rich compost, completing a truly sustainable cycle of devotion and responsibility.

The SGU Experience

Ten Days of Divine Celebration
